Is the Sanford Comprehensive Breast Team Survivorship Center right for me?
After cancer treatment, it is common for survivors to experience dramatic changes in many areas of their lives. What’s more, they often report a renewed interest in taking control and improving their lives after cancer. The Sanford Breast Project Survivorship Center focuses on your physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being. The Survivorship team is dedicated to helping breast cancer survivors enjoy a rich and full life.

What can I expect from the Survivorship Center?
The members of the Survivorship team will work with you to identify areas where you can make positive changes in your life. Among other benefits, you can expect to receive caring support and a plan to help you:
  • Deal with the fear your cancer may come back

  • Learn to live fully and grow from your experience

  • Adjust to changes in your memory and concentration

  • Deal with the stress and emotional effects from a battle with breast cancer

  • Get your weight to a healthy level

  • Regain your strength and flexibility and live as actively as possible

  • Make positive changes in your diet

  • Manage side effects of cancer treatment that have not gone away

  • Alleviate concerns about returning to work

  • Schedule cancer screenings

  • Develop a long-term health and wellness follow-up plan

  • Promote your interest in being as healthy as possible

Who will work with me?
Our multidisciplinary team features professionals who specialize in cancer survivorship – including oncologists, surgeons, nurse practitioners and breast radiologists as well as a nutritionist, psychologist, chaplain, physical therapist and social worker.
Each will work with you to:
  • Guide you in assessing your needs

  • Help you develop your personal survivorship plan

  • Provide you with knowledge and tools to support you

How do I know whether this the right time for me?
You’ll know it’s the right time if you can say yes to any of the following:
  • You’ve been treated for breast cancer at any point in your lifetime

  • You’ve finished active cancer treatment

  • You’re ready to take action to make your life better
