Thermoregulation & Heat Stress
Heat affects an athlete’s ability to perform. At Sanford Orthopedics & Sports Medicine we offer a variety of evaluations to help athletes and teams understand how heat affects training and performance. Evaluations include testing for heat tolerance while wearing particular clothing or uniforms, simulating training conditions, specific environments, humidity levels and responses following a heat-related injury or period without exposure to heat while exercising. We create individualized strategies to manage hydration and nutrition to optimize performance in heat and minimize heat-related injury.
